WOMEN IN THE CHURCH

Women are not ordained to the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but are afforded ample opportunities to serve as leaders and teachers within various organizations in the Church which are led by women at both the local and general levels.  The Relief Society (RS) is a worldwide adult women's organization with more than four million members. Its current presidency consists of Bonnie D. Parkin, Kathleen H. Hughes, and Anne C. Pingree.

The Young Women’s organization serves girls from 12 to 18 years old. At the world level, the president of this organization is currently Susan W. Tanner. Her counselors are Julie P. Beck and Elaine S. Dalton.

The Primary organization teaches children from 18 months to 12 years of age.  Coleen S. Menlove is the Primary President; Sydney S. Reynolds and Gayle M. Clegg are her counselors.

Each of these organizations has three tiers: world, stake and ward.
