Through various practical programs and measures, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints supports and bolsters the efforts of the members to have fulfillment in marriage and a good family life.
Since the start of the 20th century, the Church of Jesus Christ has recommended its members to dedicate one evening a week – preferably Monday - solely to the family. The elements that make up this evening may include e.g. religious edification, joint activities, parlor games, planning of activities, agreeing dates, a communal meal etc. The children are involved from quite a young age in the presentation and implementation of activities. Values which are important to the family are taught in this way.
At the recommendation of the Church, this is a highly effective instrument of communication between parents and children to improve family life and mutual understanding.
Monthly visits to all families in the Church are made by companionships of men (home teachers also watch over the entire family) and of women (visiting teachers who support the women in the home).
In Sunday School, the men's meeting (Priesthood Meeting), the women's meeting (Relief Society), the children's and youth groups (Primary, Young Men, Young Women), marriage and family related topics are addressed and discussed.
Targeted discussion groups, sometimes including professionals, on family and marriage topics.
